The new technology will assist in the production of conforming self-adhesive labels whereby machine mounted camera systems compare every label produced to the customer’s approved artwork. According to Sean Nolan, Managing Director, the new Vision Verification system achieves a level of inspection that has not been possible until now. Using high-tech machine mounted camera systems, the Rotoflex system provides advanced quality control by identifying all kinds of faults, including ink defects, missing print, colour variation, register movement, print-to-die cut, damaged plates, missing labels and matrixes, splices and dust and other particles.
Where faults are detected, the machine stops and the vision system displays the defects on a monitor so that the operator can quickly locate, verify and correct any problems. The defective label is then rewound to an inspection station for analysis.
The Vision Verification systems were developed and tailored to suit the needs of customers engaged in pharmaceutical and other consumer product applications, which operate under the strictest usage protocols.
The Vision Verification systems are supplemented with multiple lane numbering capability and leader and trailer facilities to minimise waste and speed up reel change.
